🇺🇸 A rainy day.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I really like the neighborhood I’m staying in, which is called Seo-cho-dong. But, to be more precise, I like these specific streets within Seo-cho-dong.

🇰🇷 비 오던 날.

이전 포스트에서, 내가 지내는 동네인 서초동을 너무 좋아한다고 언급한 적 있다. 하지만 더 정확히 말하자면, 나는 서초동 내의 딱 이 거리들을 좋아한다.

🇺🇸 These streets are on the other side of Seoul Arts Center. Because of this, there are many stores related to music. All the signs of the stores in these pictures say something related to music.

🇰🇷 이 거리들은 예술의 전당 반대편에 있다. 때문에, 음악 관련 가게가 많다. 이 사진들에 담긴 모든 가게들의 간판들이 음악과 관련된 무언가를 말하고 있다.

🇺🇸 I’ve been to other corners of Seo-cho-dong and I don’t like them at all. Hehe. I only like these particular streets + some other streets with similar vibes. These streets are very quiet. There are no huge apartment complexes—which can be nice, depending on the situation, but not always. Despite there being so many music-related stores, there is no music noise. In this part of the world, it’s common sense to get yourself a soundproof room if you want to make music, unless you’re playing for an audience.

If I were to live in Seoul, I would want to live precisely in this part of Seo-cho-dong.

🇰🇷 서초동의 다른 구석구석에도 가봤는데, 전혀 좋지 않았다. ㅎㅎ 단지 딱 이 거리들 + 비슷한 분위기의 다른 거리들만 좋다. 이 거리들은 매우 조용하다. 거대 아파트 단지는 보이지 않는다. (그것들도 경우에 따라 좋을 때도 있지만, 아닐 때도 있으니까.) 음악 관련 가게가 이렇게나 많은데도, 음악 소음은 없다. 세상의 이쪽 지역에서는 음악을 하고 싶으면 방음이 된 방을 구하는 게 상식이다. 관객을 위해 연주하는 게 아니고서야.

내가 서울에 산다면, 딱 서초동의 이 부근에 살고 싶다.
