🇺🇸 Yangjae station is located between where I’m staying & where Hyewon lives.

🇰🇷 양재역은 내가 지내는 곳과 혜원이가 사는 곳 사이에 있다.

🇺🇸 Such a sunny day.

🇰🇷 햇살 좋은 날.

🇺🇸 Between working at a Starbucks—which, in this part of the Earth, amusingly, is pretty much a place for working and not a place for drinking coffee—we went to a nearby ramen place.

Even more amusingly, Hyewon left all her stuff at Starbucks when we went to the ramen place—which isn’t considered an odd behavior here! Everywhere, everyone leaves their stuff and nobody steals anything! (The joke is that the only things that anybody ever steals are bicycles.) I, being a paranoid American, took all my stuff with me. I think Hyewon looked upon me pityingly. 😅 “Oh you poor American soul…”

🇰🇷 스타벅스에서 일하다 중간에 근처의 라면 가게에 갔다. 참 재미나게도, 스타벅스는 지구의 이 동네에서는 커피를 마시는 곳이 아니라 일을 하러 가는 곳이 아니던가.

더 재미있는 건, 우리가 라면 가게에 갈 때 혜원이는 스타벅스에 물건을 전부 두고 갔다는 점이었다. 근데 여기서는 그게 이상한 행동이 아니잖아! 어디든 누구든 자기 물건을 놔두고 다니는데 아무도 훔치질 않는다. (자전거는 훔쳐간다는 게 함정이지만.) 나는 피해망상증 미국인이라 내 물건을 전부 챙겨 갔다. 내 생각에 혜워니는 나를 조금 불쌍히 여긴 것 같다. 😅 “안타까운 미국적 영혼이여…”
